Barry Manilow cancels more dates due to vocal and technical issues

Barry Manilow has cancelled further tour dates, citing “technical and vocal problems,” just days after his Las Vegas performance ended early. The 83-year-old singer’s social media page announced the cancellations on Saturday, saying: “We’re very sorry, but we have to cancel tonight and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show.”

Las Vegas show cut short

The announcement comes after Manilow’s performance at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on Thursday ended after just 40 minutes due to “technical difficulties.” The news has sparked concern among fans, particularly given the singer’s recent health struggles.

Manilow revealed in November last year that he had been diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer. The diagnosis came after he sought medical attention for hip pain and underwent an MRI scan of his lungs and pelvis.

Fans react with concern

Fans have taken to social media to express their support. One commenter wrote: “You must take care of yourself Barry!!! You are a national treasure Sir! Big hugs!” Another added: “Sending Barry nothing but love and hope he is feeling better soon! Xxx.”

A third fan commented: “The only and most important thing is for Barry to take care of himself. As for his music I will continue to love it as I have for a portion of my life.” Another wrote: “Sorry to hear this. I know you must be disappointed. Take care. Love you dear sweet Barry.”

Previous cancellations

This is not the first time Manilow has cancelled shows. Earlier this month, he told fans in a social media statement that his performance at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, would not take place. He was due to perform there on March 9 but had rescheduled the gig due to his recovery from surgery. He claimed at the time that the cancellation was due to unforeseen circumstances.

Manilow, who underwent surgery last year for lung cancer, was set to perform in Las Vegas from August 20th until the 22nd, and again from August 27th until the 29th.
