The crowd responded with fervour, attempting to out-scream each other during highlights like the Von Dutch remix, which features Charli xcx and Addison Rae.
Cook, founder of the influential PC Music label, has long divided opinion with his exaggerated take on pop, but his impact is undeniable. Having worked with megastars including Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, and collaborator Charli xcx on her career-defining album Brat, Cook continues to push boundaries. After closing PC Music in 2023, he launched New Alias and released his third solo album, Britpop.
The set showcased Cook's talent for deconstructing and reinventing songs, stretching them like 'silly putty.' Tracks spanned from a 2015 remix of Yelle's Moteur Action to recent Brat hits. A standout was Out of Time, which melded heavy bass with celestial synths, while Xcxoplex prompted a euphoric reaction from the audience.
Cook also stepped away from the DJ booth to perform acoustic renditions of tracks such as Being Harsh, Superstar, and Lucifer, revealing a melancholic side.
