Yellowstone's Cole Hauser unrecognisable in Spielberg's 'masterpiece' cop show
Yellowstone's Cole Hauser unrecognisable in Spielberg cop show

Yellowstone star Cole Hauser appears completely unrecognisable in a forgotten 1990s police drama co-created by Steven Spielberg, which fans have hailed as a "masterpiece".

Hauser, known to millions as Rip Wheeler in the hit Paramount series, plays rookie officer Randy Willitz in High Incident, a police procedural set at the fictional El Camino Police Department. The show follows Randy as he takes his first steps in his career, getting to grips with training and responding to high-pressure cases.

A very different look for Hauser

In the series, Hauser sports a clean-shaven look with short hair and wears a police uniform rather than the cowboy gear associated with his Yellowstone character. The two-season drama has been likened to ABC's The Rookie for its focus on a newcomer finding his feet on the job.

Fans call it a 'masterpiece'

Viewers have continued to praise High Incident, with many labelling it a "masterpiece". One fan said: "This show was beautiful in every way. It was powerful, emotional, touching, and just great writing and filled with great actors."

Another remarked: "I was a cop for 10 years, and High Incident is the greatest cop show I have ever seen." A third added: "This will always be one of my favorite shows. I only wished I could have seen more than two seasons worth of this masterpiece."

Spielberg's TV pedigree

The series was co-created by Spielberg alongside Law and Order actor Eric Bogosian. While best known for his film work, Spielberg has also been involved in hit TV shows such as The Pacific and Band of Brothers. High Incident is available to watch on YouTube.
