Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has added weight to rumours that Star Wars Jedi 3 will be revealed soon, saying the game is ‘far in development’ and ‘should be officially announced soon.’ The comments, made in a response to a fan on Bluesky, contrast with the rumoured Star Wars Battlefront 3, which Schreier said ‘hasn’t even started yet.’
Respawn is expected to helm the Battlefront sequel as well, but Schreier indicated this would not interfere with the third Jedi game. The news follows a claim from another reliable insider that marketing for the threequel could begin before the end of the year, ahead of a 2027 launch.
Timing and context for a reveal
The timing would fit with previous releases. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched in 2023, about four years after the first game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which arrived in 2019. A 2027 release would follow a similar gap, barring any behind-the-scenes setbacks.
2027 also marks the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, and major announcements for movies and games are expected to be saved for the annual Star Wars Celebration event next April. Even so, the reports suggest EA could formally unveil the game at The Game Awards 2026, possibly with a teaser on social media beforehand and a fuller trailer at the ceremony, matching the approach taken for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
EA's financial situation and other projects
Scepticism about Star Wars Jedi 3 has persisted because of EA's recent leveraged buyout, which left the company with $20 billion (about £14.8 billion) of debt, leading to layoffs and cancelled games. That has included the new Mass Effect, with developer BioWare shut down entirely. Schreier previously reported that this was partly because EA viewed a new Star Wars: Battlefront as a safer investment, giving other Star Wars projects an advantage thanks to the licence.
Final Easter egg found in Jedi: Survivor
The rumours coincide with fans uncovering one final Easter egg in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. According to an X post on November 1 by Respawn's UI director Jordan DeVries, nobody had found a secret hidden in the game's menu system. A fan named towerbunga accepted the challenge and discovered the secret by inputting the Konami code in the game's skill tree menu.
According to towerbunga, the code must be entered slowly, and doing so causes a giant holographic ghost of a frog-like alien to appear and eat the floating planet in the background. The alien is the oggdo bogdo, an optional superboss in both Star Wars Jedi games, suggesting it may return for a rematch in the third instalment.
