Rockstar's GTA 6 is set to launch on PC in the first quarter of 2027, according to a new report, which would mark the shortest gap between console and PC releases in the series' history.
The report, from GamesBeat, cites four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all of whom requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships. The PC version would arrive within the first three months of 2027, following the game's console launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Quickest PC release in series history
If the report is accurate, this would be the shortest interim between console and PC launch of any 3D GTA game. GTA 2 launched simultaneously on PC and PlayStation in 1999. In comparison, GTA 5's PC version arrived over a year after its original console release, in April 2015, following its September 2013 launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. GTA 4 arrived on PC eight months after its console debut, in December 2008.
Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version of GTA 6, but it has been widely expected. The shorter gap makes sense, according to the report, considering PC gaming has grown in popularity since GTA 5's launch.
Online mode and ongoing leaks
While there is no mention of GTA Online in the report, it would make sense for Rockstar to launch GTA 6's multiplayer alongside the PC version. Earlier this year, Twitch's chief executive officer Dan Clancy stated GTA 6 Online will arrive sometime in 2027.
Rockstar will likely stay quiet on both the PC launch and the online aspect until after GTA 6 launches on consoles, so as not to put anyone off buying the console versions.
For now, Rockstar's biggest issue might be the return of Cyberleek, who has been posting more clips online seemingly of the game in action ahead of time. It is possible they may even have an early PC version of the game, since you would typically need a devkit to run a pre-launch console version. Everything connected with Cyberleek continues to be a mystery, with no indication of who they are or where they got a copy of the game from, or why they do not fear Rockstar's lawyers.
