A dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 fan has taken an unusual approach to predicting the release date of the game's third trailer. The fan, who goes by the Reddit username Then-Pomegranate-625, has been monitoring the Rockstar North headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland, in an attempt to gather clues about when the next trailer will drop.
Previous efforts included recording decibel levels around the office. Now, the fan has escalated their surveillance to include counting discarded cigarette butts and measuring oxygen levels inside the building. According to a series of Reddit posts, the fan claims to have set up microphone equipment behind the offices and even tallied the value of cars in the parking lot to determine if high-level executives are present.
Oxygen Levels and Cigarette Butts
In a recent post, Then-Pomegranate-625 wrote: "I had a suspicion that executives were meeting after business hours at the HQ to discuss marketing / trailer 3. Well now my data confirms it; decreased oxygen levels on a weekend, which is insane to me guys." The post included a graph showing a dip in oxygen levels, which the fan interprets as evidence of increased occupancy and important discussions.
The fan also began counting cigarette butts left outside the building. "The average cigarettes for a consumer sits around 15, but today I counted 71 cigarettes over 19 hours. With 11 cars present, and an average of 2/10 people being smokers, this is an insane amount of cigarettes present around the HQ," the post stated. The fan concluded that stress levels among staff are high, suggesting that a trailer announcement could be imminent.
Questionable Evidence
Despite the fan's enthusiasm, the evidence is far from conclusive. The oxygen level data lacks a baseline for comparison, and the cigarette butt count relies on assumptions about smoking rates. It is also unclear whether the Reddit user is genuinely collecting this data or fabricating it for entertainment. The fan's prediction that Trailer 3 will arrive "this week" remains unverified.
Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two have confirmed that GTA 6 is on track for a November 19, 2026 release, with marketing expected to intensify later in the summer. Until an official announcement is made, fans are advised to take such speculative data with a grain of salt.
