The latest Games Inbox sees readers debating the potential release window for the PC version of GTA 6, with one suggesting a launch around May 2027, while others react to Xbox's new cloud gaming time limits and the possibility of a streaming-only next-gen console.
GTA 6 PC release window
One reader, writing under the name Hammeriron, notes that while many have speculated about a PC version arriving sooner rather than later, they see no way it could launch this year. They point to a rough six-month gap between console and PC releases, which would place it around May, a favoured time for Rockstar Games to release new titles.
They recall that the quickest modern PC port was GTA 4 at seven months, while GTA 5 took 19 months. The reader believes the delay could be longer than six months if GTA Online 2 launches on console first, allowing Rockstar to ensure stability before the PC version arrives.
Xbox cloud gaming caps
Several readers reacted to Microsoft's announcement that Game Pass Ultimate will include 15 hours of cloud gaming per month, with the basic subscription limited to five hours. One reader, TWO MACKS, questioned whether this would also cap Play Anywhere streaming on phones and TVs, calling it a "farce" and a "massive own goal" for the company.
Another reader, Matthew Hardcastle, suggested the move is a hint at Microsoft's next-gen plans, potentially normalising paid cloud gaming before announcing a streaming-only console. GameCentral responded that there are no exceptions to the caps and that Microsoft's argument appears to be that few users exceed the limits.
Next-gen speculation
A reader named David wrote about buying a Samsung TV for his son to play Game Pass without a console, and expressed concern that the five-hour cap would make the service unusable. He suggested he would instead buy a PlayStation 5 on Black Friday, while GameCentral noted that pressing pause should stop the clock.
Another reader, Ciara, offered a detailed prediction for Sony's next move, suggesting the company might abandon numerical branding and release a digital-only console roughly as powerful as the PS5 Pro, or a premium handheld that plays PS5 games. GameCentral responded that Sony has not yet used the phrase "PlayStation 6" publicly.
The Inbox also included a letter from a long-time gamer reflecting on 47 years of gaming, from Pong to the PS5 Pro, expressing frustration at the industry's focus on shareholders and the move towards digital-only ownership. The final letter looked forward to the first trailer for the Zelda movie, expected during the 40th anniversary Nintendo Direct.
