Prime Video has announced a new standalone special within the Clarkson's Farm franchise, titled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special. The programme will see Jeremy Clarkson return to his Top Gear roots as he attempts to cultivate and construct his own vehicle from crops raised at Diddly Squat Farm.
The streaming service noted that Clarkson has tried to grow many things on the farm, with more to come in season six, but has never before attempted something this ambitious. "In fact, no one has. Growing a car is not for the faint-hearted," they teased.
A Unique Automotive Challenge
Frustrated by modern motoring, Clarkson will take it upon himself to build his new car. The foundation of the ambitious scheme will centre around the Jaguar F-Type V6S, though this will not be a straightforward restoration project.
Alongside his own Diddly Squat leather interior and wool carpets, he will endeavour to cultivate a crop of flax fibre and transform it into an eco-friendly alternative to carbon fibre. Renowned automotive designer Ian Callum CBE, the mastermind behind the original F-Type, will lend his expertise to the challenge.
Future of the Franchise
Prime Video concluded: "Jeremy's redesigned Jaguar will feature everything he believes the iconic British brand should stand for: style, luxury and performance." The one-off special will air on Prime Video worldwide next year, while season six of Clarkson's Farm will also launch in 2027.
Clarkson has been candid about the future of his farming series, announcing in September that filming had largely wrapped up. Speaking at the Royal Television Society London Convention in late September, he said the team had just finished work on season six and were considering what might come next.
He said: "We wrapped season six of Clarkson's Farm final yesterday, and season seven is kind of, 'What are we going to do?'"
Ambitious Plans Ahead
The former Top Gear host did not rule out a seventh season but suggested he would be focusing more on his new projects. "We're currently thinking about what we do after Clarkson's Farm, and it's going to have to be something bigger to stand out to protect us from this onslaught from [social media content] underneath. It has to be unbelievably ambitious," he teased.
"It's very difficult to make a television show work unless you're cooking on the moon or doing something incredible, and that's where I think television has to lose scheduling, and get bigger."
Clarkson also offered insight into his health after the latest season highlighted his prostate cancer diagnosis. "I'm mended, I'm made of rock and steel," he previously told Radio Times, confirming he was in remission.
