Attenborough's Our Story opens at Chester Zoo for first time outside London

Our Story with David Attenborough, the immersive production narrated by Sir David Attenborough, has opened at Chester Zoo — the first venue outside London to host the full exhibition following its run at the Natural History Museum.

More than 245,000 people have already experienced Our Story in London, where it originally opened in June 2025 and was extended after a run of sell-out performances.

A 50-minute immersive experience

Created in collaboration with Sir David and the team at Open Planet Studios, the 50-minute experience surrounds audiences with footage of the natural world, animation and 360-degree projections across walls and floors.

It tells two interconnected stories: the epic, four-billion-year history of Earth and the much more recent story of humankind — exploring the profound impact people have had on the planet, as well as the ways in which we can work with nature rather than against it.

Chester Zoo hosts the production

Our Story with David Attenborough will take over Chester Zoo’s former Ape House for a new run.

Dom Strange, chief operating officer at Chester Zoo, said: "We’re incredibly proud to have brought Our Story to Chester."

"It’s a remarkable experience, and being the first venue outside London to host the full production makes this a really special moment for us."

"Sir David Attenborough has inspired generations of people to care about the natural world. This experience gives people the chance to immerse themselves in the story of our planet in a completely different way."

"We hope they leave with a renewed sense of wonder about the world around them, and what we can do to protect it."

Our Story with David Attenborough is now open at Chester Zoo. Tickets start at £15.
