A Four in a Bed star from Pembrokeshire fumed, 'it made my blood boil,' as tension brewed on Payment Day during repeat episodes airing on Saturday. The series travelled around Wales, but a unique off-grid accommodation in Powys left some B&B owners less than impressed.
Off-Grid Accommodation Sparks Debate
With no wifi, limited luxuries, and outdoor toilets, owners Anjana and David were left with lower reviews than expected on payment day. Pembrokeshire owners Steve and his daughter Elise gave the pair a low rating of six for facilities, citing the lack of amenities as an issue.
'We never promised electricity,' Anjana hit back. David added, 'We specifically don't promise electricity; it's very much somewhere people go for a digital detox.' Steve responded, 'When I go places, I like to think I live in the 21st century. Most places have electricity and wifi, for me it's a must.'
Anjana replied, 'You sound really angry that we're producing something without electricity.' Steve then said, 'I get you're a niche market, but I kind of feel like you're attacking me.' Anjana slammed, 'I feel like you're attacking me for not having electricity.'
Heated Exchanges Continue
Things continued to spiral downward when Anjana and David discovered that Barmouth B&B owners Tanya and Gary had scored them a five for facilities. After reading their feedback, Anjana put Tanya on the spot, asking, 'Have you ever been camping? And what equipment have you got at home for that?'
As Tanya said she doesn't have equipment at home but has been camping in the past, Anjana fumed, 'So you don't go camping, so you actually don't know what you're talking about? It's really a you problem rather than a site problem.' She continued, 'You mentioned the toilet was a four-minute walk as if that is a negative. If you had it closer than that, if you knew anything about camping, you would know you're right next to a watercourse, so you've got to be at least 30 minutes away.'
David Hasselhoff Mentioned
Tenby glampsite owners Carys and Rhys also shared concerns about the lack of nearby toilets, leaving Carys using the grounds in the middle of the night rather than walking to the toilets in the dark. Rhys said, 'It just reminded me of going glamping ten years ago.'
'I think you're so wrong about that,' Anjana hit back. 'Do you know that we had David Hasselhoff come?' Carys replied, 'I don't think it matters if you had Cheryl Cole,' as Rhys said, 'David Hasselhoff isn't judging.' Anjana added, 'I feel that you've all missed the point.'
Underpayments Lead to Last Place
After hearing all the feedback, Anjana and David opened their envelopes and discovered they had received three underpayments, totalling £90. Unsurprisingly, they came in fourth place, with David concluding, 'We're so different as an offering from the other ones that I think it was either going to work out spectacularly well or spectacularly badly.'
Four in a Bed is available to watch on Channel 4.
