The Waterboys headlined the Salt and Tar Music Festival in Bootle tonight (August 14), performing to hundreds of fans at the temporary Lock and Quay site. The band, led by Scottish musician Mike Scott, has a special connection to Liverpool despite originating from London.
Special Liverpool connection
The band's biggest hit, The Whole of the Moon, was recorded at Liverpool's Amazon Studios and has become a favourite at Merseyside parties. The Waterboys are also known for tracks such as Fisherman's Blues and This Is the Sea.
Festival moves along the canal
Salt and Tar has gone 'on tour' travelling down the canal to its neighbours at the Lock and Quay's evening site, while works continue to expand its home site. The event runs until Monday, August 17.
Tonight was night two of four nights of live music. Billy Ocean opened the festival yesterday with his timeless classics. Liverpool-born Luvcat also performed, having swapped busking on the streets of Chester for stages across the world.
