London has officially launched its bid to host WorldPride 2032, the world's largest international Pride festival. If successful, London would become the first city ever to host the event for a second time, having previously done so in 2012. The 2032 event would also mark 60 years since the UK's first LGBT pride.
Mayor's Support
London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan expressed his backing for the bid, sharing hopes that the opportunity will "take us even further" in the city's support for the LGBTQ+ community. Writing in The Standard, he said: "Hundreds of thousands of uncelebrated LGBTQIA+ Londoners bring love and joy to our lives every day. Together, they have made London the modern, multicultural metropolis it is today — and they are the reason that WorldPride belongs in our city. Given the opportunity, we’ll show the world that, in the face of division, our diversity remains our greatest strength."
WorldPride History
WorldPride is a major celebration held every two years for the LGBTQIA+ community, aiming to raise awareness of equal rights and visibility worldwide. The inaugural event took place in Rome in 2000, and it has since been hosted in Sydney, New York, Madrid, and Amsterdam. London hosted in 2012, marking the 40th anniversary of the UK's first gay pride march in 1972, with approximately 25,000 participants in a scaled-down event due to funding shortages.
Competitions for the Bid
The London WorldPride 2032 Bid Committee is inviting artists, designers, photographers, and Pride communities globally to help shape the event's official visual identity. LGBTQIA+ creatives from across the UK can submit original logo outlines that capture London's diversity and creativity. If London wins, the winning design will become the official bid logo.
Inspired by Outernet London's Coronation campaign, a second photography competition invites LGBTQIA+ community members worldwide to submit photos celebrating Pride, identity, allyship, and belonging. The winning logo designer will receive a £3,000 prize, and the design will be unveiled in late October 2026 via an immersive installation on Outernet London's digital screens.
Submissions for both competitions open immediately via the Pride in London website, with entries closing on 25th September 2026 and winners announced in early October 2026.
