The festive season has begun in Liverpool, with Christmas lights turned on across the city. In Liverpool ONE, lights were officially switched on last night (Friday, November 6).
New walk-through tree at Paradise Place
Transforming into a Christmas wonderland, the lights feature a spectacular new 30-metre Christmas tree situated at Paradise Place. The new addition offers a unique photo opportunity for visitors, as they can walk through the middle of the tree for the first time.
Some much-loved festive favourites have also returned, including the bauble arch, reindeer and angel wings.
St Johns celebrations
Lights were also switched on in St Johns. Visitors to the city centre shopping precinct enjoyed live music from the Singing Our Socks Off Choir as well as visits from Santa and the Grinch. The fun started at 4.30pm, with shoppers getting into the Christmas mood. St Johns Beacon was also illuminated with festive projections.
Further installations across the city
Elsewhere in the city, Christmas lights will be installed from the Waterfront, through Lord Street, Church Street, Lime Street, St George’s Quarter, Bold Street, Hardman Street, Hope Street and, for the first time this year, up to Myrtle Street on Thursday, November 12.
ECHO photographer Andrew Teebay was there to capture the moment the city was illuminated.
