A 17-year-old girl has died after suffering a medical episode at Kendal Calling festival in Cumbria. Emergency services were called to the scene just before 2.15am today, and despite first responders giving her CPR, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police launch inquiry
Cumbria Police said inquiries into the death are ongoing. A statement said: “Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
Witness appeal
Officers are now seeking potential witnesses who were in the area of the ‘Calling Out’ tent or the ‘Big Wheel’ on the festival site.
Festival statement
A spokesperson for Kendal Calling said: “As soon as the individual became unwell, they were immediately attended to by our on-site security and medical teams. Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help.”

The Lake District music festival began on Thursday and was headlined by Biffy Clyro last night, with The Libertines and Gabrielle among the other acts. Wolf Alice and Primal Scream are both due to perform today.
