Big Brother viewers believe they have caught housemate Pauline in a lie after spotting an easy-to-miss detail during Monday night's episode. The carer, a fan favourite since the start of the series, was seen eating a packet of non-organic Walkers crisps despite repeatedly claiming she only eats organic food.
Challenge success and a spotted slip-up
The contestants have been living in the House of Nothing this week, with Big Brother removing all creature comforts including food and snacks. They have been slowly winning back everyday essentials by completing challenges.
On Monday night (September 28), Lynx and Samuel were tasked with correctly counting how many coffee beans, cereal and pasta pieces were in the kitchen jars. They passed the challenge and won back all the food in the storage room, leading to celebration around the house.
But fans were distracted when they spotted Pauline eating non-organic cheese and onion crisps. She has been vocal about her dietary preference and requests specific food items on the weekly shopping list.
Pauline's refusal and fan reactions
Pauline later refused to eat the dinner Lynx cooked for the group because it wasn't organic. TOWIE star Junaid Ahmed also noticed the slip-up and addressed it on Big Brother's Group Chat podcast.
Speaking to hosts Kate Lawler and GK Barry, he said: "Did you guys spot something in today's episode about food? Pauline bangs on about only eating organic food; she was eating cheese and onion crisps. They're not organic. So she's a liar."
Viewers at home were equally baffled, with one posting online: "I saw her eating the crisps and immediately text my mum to say I don't think they're organic how can she be so stubborn about only eating organic and then snack on possibly the most processed snack food ever!"
Defence and ongoing debate
Some fans have rushed to Pauline's defence, arguing she just prefers organic food and never implied it was due to intolerances or allergies. A fan on X, formerly Twitter, said: "Do they just expect her to live off yoghurts and coconut water?? If she asked for organic chips people would've been ridiculing her too. People can do their best to eat as much organic they can, doesn't mean they can't have a cheat day. She can't win #bbuk."
Another viewer suggested: "looks like a case of.. if it's good enough for the goose it's good enough for the gander. they are eating her food." Fellow housemate Rochelle believes it is unfair for Pauline to have her own allocated foods such as coconut water, while Pauline argues it's only fair since she doesn't touch other foods in the house. Big Brother is streaming on ITVX.
