Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson said she 'could cry' after a 'magical' performance at Cardiff Castle, where the band closed the double-headline tour with Skunk Anansie. The alt-rock icons played to a packed crowd on the penultimate stop of their UK co-headline tour.
Skunk Anansie opened the night with a crushing set, including hits like Hedonism and Weak. Frontwoman Skin removed her heavy parachute trousers on stage, joking: 'In 32 years, I've never had to do that before... it must be something in the air in Cardiff.' She later crowd-surfed and instructed fans on how to start a mosh pit.
After a break, Garbage took the stage with new track There's No Future for Optimism from their 2025 album. Manson, wearing a white T-shirt emblazoned with 'PUNK' and a kilt, led the band through classics like Stupid Girl and I Think I'm Paranoid.
Manson praised Skunk Anansie, saying: 'It's not an easy job' to follow them. She told the crowd: 'We have seen each other grow from the 1990s and to be here tonight in this extraordinary setting, I could cry.' She also made an impassioned call for politicians to address climate change.
The night ended with the cinematic track The Day That I Met God. The concert series continues with Empire of the Sun headlining on Tuesday.
