Chatsworth Christmas theme: 12 Days of Carol unveiled

Chatsworth House in the Peak District has revealed its 2025 Christmas theme: a celebration of the carol 'The 12 Days of Christmas'. The Derbyshire estate, around 40 miles from Manchester, will feature each verse of the song reimagined throughout the house, with paper calling birds, gold rings, music, projections, and crafted installations.

A New Theme for the Festive Season

This year's 'completely new and unexpected' theme marks a departure from previous years. Highlights include a 24ft pear tree and treasures from the Devonshire Collections. The State Apartments will feature in the Christmas experience for the first time since 2020.

Gardens and Light Trail

The '12 Days of Christmas' story extends into the garden with a new magical light trail and installations. The journey concludes with an animated light and sound projection on the house, inspired by the theme.

Christmas Market and Tickets

The annual Christmas market will feature more than 100 exhibitors offering festive gifts, food, and drink. Chatsworth's Orangery and Stables shops will be open all season. Christmas at Chatsworth runs from November 7 to January 3, with all tickets booked in advance. The market runs until December 13.

Susie Stokoe, head of textiles at Chatsworth, said: "The 12 Days of Christmas is one of the most well-known carols, which makes it a wonderful theme to rediscover in a completely new and unexpected way here at Chatsworth." She added that visitors will recognise the lyrics as they move through the house, with each room offering its own surprise. All money from ticket sales and membership goes to the Chatsworth House Trust charity.
