Cardiff's famous Halloween house has returned for its sixth year, with decorations designed to frighten and delight visitors. The Llandaff property has upped the fear factor this year, with spooky skeletons scaling the house and haunting characters surrounding the home.
Since 2020, homeowners Danny and Carmela Hargreaves have decorated their home and garden on Cardiff Road, inviting people of all ages to enjoy the spectacle throughout October. The couple are the founders of Real SFX, an award-winning special effects company that has worked on shows such as Doctor Who, Peaky Blinders and His Dark Materials.
Charity Fundraising Through the Years
The Hargreaves have used their skills to transform their house for six years to raise money for charity. In 2025, the theme was Ghostbusters, featuring a towering Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and an array of spooky surprises created by the Real SFX team.
Each year, the couple helps raise money for Dreams and Wishes, a Welsh charity run entirely by volunteers that supports seriously ill children and their families. The charity was founded in 2011 by Tony Curtis MBE, bringing together a team of volunteers who "feel passionately about creating a charity that ensures every penny goes directly to helping put smiles on the faces of the children".
Visiting the Halloween House
This year, Howell's School has offered its car park for those visiting the house after dark. Hundreds of visitors have been stopping by to see the elaborate themed decorations, which include a massive skeleton hanging over the garden wall, a Michael Myers figure watching the street, and even a Batmobile.
The display continues to wow visitors each year, with the ultimate trick-or-treat attraction drawing crowds from across the city.
