Elle Fanning stuns Hunger Games screening in headpiece

Elle Fanning turned heads at a fan screening of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in west London, wearing a ballet-inspired gown and a headpiece modelled on an opened music box.

The 28-year-old actress plays fashion student Effie Trinket in the sixth film of the dystopian franchise. Her outfit paid homage to the character, made famous by Elizabeth Banks in the original trilogy and known for extravagant costumes, grandiose hair and bright-coloured make-up.

Ballet-inspired outfit details

Fanning wore a light pink gown with a flared ruffled skirt resembling a tutu, cinched into a strapless corset bodice. The dress featured a moulded breastplate and was completed with a matching pink headpiece holding a rotating ballerina figurine positioned in front of a mirror, as if a music box had just been opened.

Co-stars' looks at the event

McKenna Grace, who plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, wore a landscape-inspired embroidered gown. The dress mirrored the arena in the film, with a bright blue sky, mountain terrain, a sweeping meadow and brightly coloured flowers draping to the bottom of the gown.

Glenn Close, who stars as the cruel chaperone Drusilla Sickle, wore a satin green gown with a cinched bow detail creating a layered effect. Her look was completed with long black gloves and her hair curled up in a one-side hairdo.

The evening also saw Kieran Culkin, who plays a young Caesar Flickerman, wear a blue shirt with an embroidered brown blazer.

Film release details

The upcoming film, directed by Francis Lawrence, is based on the novel series by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released in cinemas from November 20.
