Alton Towers promises show-stopping end to season with new experience

Alton Towers has revealed details of a new experience coming to the park from November 6 to 8, as the theme park season prepares to come to a close.

The annual show, part of this year's Fireworks Spectacular, is titled Across the Altonverse. The new experience follows a group of explorers from the Alton Society of Invention and Exploration as they 'use a steam-powered, clockwork teleportation machine to travel between the different worlds of Alton Towers Resort'.

A Journey Through Six Themed Lands

Their mission is to visit every realm in record time, taking audiences through the stories and events behind some of the Resort's best-known rides and attractions. Combining fireworks, live performers, music and special effects, the show promises to bring stories to life above the Staffordshire skies, with each world featuring its own soundtrack and visual effects.

The adventure sees the explorers travel through six of Alton Towers' themed lands, revisiting key events from their fictional histories. These moments will be brought to life throughout the show:

  • Forbidden Valley: the day Nemesis broke through the Earth
  • Katanga Canyon: a runaway mine train that's about to run wild
  • Dark Forest: the stormy night the Oak was chained
  • X-Sector: the Ministry of Joy has taken control
  • Gloomy Wood: the New Year's Eve curse that changed Alton Manor forever
  • Mutiny Bay: a fiery ritual to the spirit of the Wicker Man

Fans will recognise moments from the backstories of the resort's best-loved rides and themed lands along the way. Each realm has its own soundtrack, from Britpop and metal to funk, folk and epic orchestral scores.

Live Actors and New Centrepiece

Live actors will also return to the show this year, playing four central explorer characters. A new centrepiece, The Kronos, will 'shimmer, pulse and burst with light' as the countdown ticks closer. Guests arriving early can enjoy pre-show storytelling with the explorers before the adventure begins.

The show also brings back its much-loved emotional moment, a tribute to the affection guests share for Alton Towers Resort. It builds to a finale set to the most epic In the Hall of the Mountain King yet.

Tickets and Short Breaks

Tickets bought online for the Fireworks Spectacular include a day's admission to the park and cost £42 for November 6 and 8 and £44 for November 7. VIP experiences are also available which give access to a prime viewing area and free standard parking.

Short breaks can also be booked from £100 per person with themed accommodation including the CBeebies Land Hotel, Caribbean-inspired Splash Landings Hotel, Alton Towers Hotel and the magical Enchanted Village Woodland Lodges. The Waterpark and Extraordinary Golf add even more to enjoy.
