Penelope Chilvers has expanded its ready-to-wear collection with a final summer drop, featuring dresses and blouses designed to transition into autumn. The British label, known for its boots and wedges, has gained a royal following, with Duchess Sophie wearing its shirts and skirts this summer.
Royal Endorsement and Design Philosophy
Founder Penelope Chilvers told the Daily Express: “I feel very proud that Princess Catherine, Zara Tindall, Duchess Sophie, and now Harriet have all chosen to wear our designs over the years. I’m also delighted that the Royal Family continue to support British industry because I think that’s something really special.”
She added: “They fly the flag for British brands incredibly well, and that’s something I really admire.” Despite the royal following, Chilvers said she doesn’t design specifically for the Royal Family, focusing instead on creating pieces with broader appeal.
Timeless Pieces for Year-Round Wear
The new collection includes the Villanova dress in pink (£255) and blue (£399), the Satuna blouse in blue and pink (£199 each), and the Portobello blouse (£179). The pink Villanova dress is made from 100% cotton with a V-neckline and tiered skirt, while the blue version is crafted from premium silk. The Satuna blouse features 100% silk habotai with a ruffled neckline, and the Portobello blouse is a pink checked cotton piece designed for year-round wear.
Chilvers emphasized the brand’s commitment to longevity: “I think our designs resonate with women who all have very different personal styles because they are timeless. They’re made to last, they’re comfortable, and they’re authentic. We never chase trends, and I think that’s why women continue to wear our products for such a long time.”
