Oasis promoter SJM Concerts has secured a licence to host events at Knebworth, allowing for up to 125,000 attendees, intensifying speculation about a potential 2027 tour. The licence, granted by North Hertfordshire Council, came into effect on Saturday and remains valid indefinitely.
Licence details and capacity
The licence permits live music and dance performances until 3am and is understood to allow events of up to 125,000 people. The news arrives days before the anniversary of the band's iconic 1996 concerts at the venue, where they played to a quarter of a million people over two nights.
Liam Gallagher also performed two solo shows at Knebworth in 2022. The exact nature of any Oasis events at the site has not been confirmed, but reports suggest the band could play six nights there in September 2027.
Social media hints and Manchester residency rumours
Last month, Liam Gallagher appeared to hint at the band's return when the official Oasis account shared a flashback video marking the anniversary of their comeback. Liam posted: "We want MORE." This is one of several statements that seem to point towards a 2027 tour.
Additionally, sources close to Manchester's Etihad Stadium and the music industry suggest the band may be planning a residency in Manchester, with 12 gigs reportedly in the pipeline for June 2027. A luxury Manchester hotel has reportedly been fully booked from the end of May to the start of July, further fuelling speculation.
