Kate Moss, whose Glastonbury 2005 appearance turned Hunter Wellington boots into a style icon, has reunited with the Scottish-born brand for its 170th anniversary campaign. The collection, available now, includes the original tall boot, Chelsea styles, and rainwear, just in time for autumn.
A fashion moment revisited
The model was photographed at the festival in 2005 wearing tiny shorts, a waistcoat, and a pair of Hunter boots, cementing the practical countryside shoe as a covetable fashion piece. More than two decades later, Moss is the face of the brand's 170th anniversary campaign.
Founded in Scotland in 1856, Hunter has evolved from a waterproof rubber goods manufacturer to a supplier of soldier boots during both World Wars, and a farmer's staple in the late 20th century. Moss helped put the brand on the map for festival style in the mid-2000s, with other It-girls of the era, including Alexa Chung and Lily Allen, soon following suit.
The anniversary collection
Despite collaborations with labels such as Ganni, Represent, and Stella McCartney, Hunter has retained its practical roots. The 170th anniversary collection includes the original tall boot (£140), a Chelsea boot (£130), and a downpour style (£100), alongside clothing such as a tartan raincoat (£135) and a puffer coat (£230).
The special edition tall boot is finished in a patent signature green, handcrafted from natural rubber with a tall leg, complete waterproof protection, and tread soles for grip. The tartan raincoat, a nod to Hunter's Scottish heritage, features a waterproof shell, a fitted shape, a hood, and multiple pockets.
Practical pieces for autumn
The Chelsea boot is designed with a sturdy toe cap, grippy tread sole, and flexible rubber upper, with neoprene lining for insulation. The downpour PU hooded jacket is lightweight, weatherproof, and available in black, navy, green, or pink, with a hood and snap closure.
