Fans of Ricky Gervais' new Netflix animated series Alley Cats have been trying to identify the famous voices behind the characters. The six-part adult comedy has become the platform's number one show despite mixed reviews.
Familiar Faces Return
As with many of Gervais' recent projects, Alley Cats features a host of familiar British comedy actors, most of whom have appeared in his previous work. Gervais himself voices the ginger cat Gus, while David Earl, known for his role as Kev in Derek, plays Puke. Earl made his TV debut in Extras as an obsessive fan and later appeared in Cemetery Junction and After Life as Brian Gittins.
After Life Stars Reunite
Jo Hartley, who played June in After Life, voices Kitten. Her other credits include Death in Paradise, Adolescence, and Bank of Dave. Tom Basden, creator of Plebs and Here We Go, plays Ponce, and also appeared in After Life and the David Brent film. Diane Morgan, famous for Philomena Cunk, voices Olive, Gus' half-sister, and also appeared in After Life as Kath.
More Cast Members
Kerry Godliman, known for Taskmaster, plays Lara, the silver tabby cat, and previously played Lisa in After Life. Andrew Brooke, who played Ratty in After Life, voices Fang. Tony Way, recognizable as Lenny in After Life, plays the drug dealer cat and several other characters.
A Newcomer to Gervais' Universe
The only cast member not previously in a Gervais series is EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy, who voices Gus' mum. Alley Cats is streaming now on Netflix.
