Strictly's New 'Instant Dance' Challenge Could 'Change Everything' for Couples
Strictly's 'Instant Dance' Shake-Up Could Change Everything

The competition on Strictly Come Dancing is about to get even more intense as BBC bosses introduce a thrilling new 'Instant Dance' challenge that could dramatically alter the leaderboard.

What is the 'Instant Dance' Challenge?

As the show prepares for its iconic trip to Blackpool, the six remaining couples will face a unique test. Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who are both departing the series this year, the segment will see couples select a dance style from their previous routines.

The real challenge begins when the music starts. Couples will have a frantic dash to wardrobe to find a costume, followed by a mere 10 seconds on the countdown clock to decide their final routine before performing live on the dancefloor.

Judges' Verdict and Potential Impact

Head judge Shirley Ballas has emphasised the segment's significance, stating it could 'change everything' for the contestants. The challenge is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, towards the end of the live show.

After all performances, judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton du Beke will award scores between one and six. The best couple receives six points, while the least impressive performance gets one point.

'Instant Dance has the power to change everything for our couples, and will challenge them in ways they have never been challenged before,' Shirley said. 'With standards so incredibly high this year and the competition so close, there's a lot resting on it.'

Fallout from a Shock Exit

The new challenge announcement comes after viewers expressed outrage over the shock exit of Vicky Pattison. The former Geordie Shore star became the seventh celebrity eliminated after a dance-off with EastEnders' Balvinder Sopal, missing her chance to perform in Blackpool.

Despite her elimination, Vicky remained positive, telling partner Kai Widdrington: 'I’m so sorry I didn’t get you to Blackpool but I feel like I’ve won just by having you as my partner.'

Fans were left dismayed, with one calling Vicky a 'definite potential winner' and another stating she embodied what the show is all about. The introduction of the Instant Dance segment ensures the competition remains unpredictable as the remaining couples battle for the Glitterball Trophy.
