The BBC has been confirmed as the official broadcast partner of the 50th anniversary Olivier Awards, with the ceremony set to take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 12 April. Highlights will be broadcast on BBC television and radio, bringing the celebration of London theatre to a primetime audience.
This year marks a historic return to the BBC, which first televised the awards in 1981. The partnership revives a relationship that began with the very first broadcast of the ceremony, reinforcing the BBC's role as a leading cultural broadcaster.
Audiences can expect a showcase of the best of London theatre, including award presentations and special performances from stage stars. The event will also highlight UK theatre's contribution to nurturing creative talent, revisiting memorable winners and nominees from across the decades.
