Leslie Odom Jr Returns as Aaron Burr in West End Hamilton

Tony Award-winning actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr is set to make his highly anticipated West End debut by reprising his iconic role as Aaron Burr in the London production of the revolutionary musical Hamilton. The 44-year-old star, who originated the part on Broadway in 2015, will join the London cast for a strictly limited nine-week run at the Victoria Palace Theatre from 3 July to 5 September 2026.

A Return to the Room Where It Happens

Odom Jr, who won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Alexander Hamilton's political rival and eventual assassin, last performed the role during a limited Broadway engagement in 2025. His return to the character has been described by the performer himself as "a profoundly healing artistic experience." In an official statement, Odom Jr expressed his excitement about crossing the Atlantic to perform for London audiences.

"Returning to Hamilton and revisiting the role of Aaron Burr with the growth and perspective of time has been incredibly rewarding," Odom Jr said. "I am having so much fun! The London production will grant me a few more glorious weeks to share Lin-Manuel Miranda's music with an international audience who, I have learned, love this show as much, if not more, than I do. I'm crossing the ocean and I just can't wait."

Hamilton premiered off-Broadway in 2015 to immediate critical acclaim before transferring to Broadway the following year. The production made history by receiving a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations, ultimately winning 11 awards including Best Musical. Odom Jr's Tony victory was particularly notable as he won Best Actor in a Musical over the show's creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The original Broadway cast recording won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and Miranda received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for writing the groundbreaking musical. A filmed version of the Broadway production was released on Disney+ in 2020, introducing the show to millions of viewers worldwide during the pandemic.
