Russell T Davies's award-winning television series It's a Sin is to be transformed into a dance show, developed by the Rambert dance company. The production, choreographed and directed by Rambert's artistic director Benoit Swan Pouffer, will feature Davies and the Pet Shop Boys as executive producers.

The Pet Shop Boys, whose 1987 single inspired the series title, expressed pride in being involved as the story is reinterpreted through dance. Their frequent collaborators, Luke Halls Studio, will provide set and video design, blending archive material with contemporary movement. The music, composed by Roman GianArthur, aims to evoke the glamour and emotional intensity of 1980s queer life.

The show is co-produced by Factory International and will premiere at Aviva Studios in Manchester, with a tour to follow. Davies, who previously expressed reluctance to adapt the series, said it was an honour to see his work transformed by Rambert. The original series, which aired on Channel 4, followed young gay men navigating the HIV/AIDS crisis in 1980s London and won multiple awards.
