A binman has shared a light-hearted TikTok video responding to drivers who become frustrated when his lorry blocks the road. Ashley, who posts as The No1 Binman, filmed himself singing along to the 1999 hit 'Turn Around' by Phats & Small while sitting in his bin lorry.
In the video, he belts out the lyrics 'Hey, what's wrong with you? You're looking kinda down to me' and adds text reading: 'When the person behind the bin lorry is starting to get upset.' He then reminds viewers it was 'nearly the weekend', encouraging them to cheer up despite the brief delay.
Commenters were firmly on Ashley's side, with many saying his musical reaction cheered them up and expressing gratitude for his work. One wrote 'Brilliant!', another said 'You're as happy as my bin men, love it', and a third added 'That's cheered me up, thanks.'
When not making humorous videos, Ashley shares advice on bin etiquette. Recently, he posted about Easter egg packaging, explaining that cardboard boxes can generally be recycled but foil often must go in general waste—though local councils vary on this.
He also notes that binmen may refuse to collect rubbish for reasons such as contaminated recycling, excessively heavy bins, or side waste left next to the bin. Non-recyclable items like food or soft plastics in recycling bins can also lead to non-collection, often accompanied by a sticker explaining the issue.
