Vogue Williams has voiced her disappointment in Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis over his past relationship with a teenager, 31 years his junior. The 40-year-old podcaster discussed the matter on the latest episode of My Therapist Ghosted Me, where she co-hosts with Joanne McNally.
Disappointment in the rock star
Williams, 40, said she finds Kiedis, now 63, 'really disappointing' because she likes the band, despite him not having broken the law. She reflected on his dating history, particularly his relationship with Australian model Helena Vestergaard, who was 19 when they began dating in 2013, when he was 50. The pair split after almost two years, with Kiedis later revealing how emotionally wrecked he was by the break-up.
'Dude, what are you talking about?' Williams exclaimed, expressing confusion over what someone in their 50s would have in common with a teenager. She wondered what she would talk to a 16-year-old about, joking about school and pencil cases.
Co-host's take on age gaps
McNally offered a different perspective, saying she accepts that most men are drawn to significantly younger women. 'It is what it is. I don't think there's any getting away from it,' she said, adding that rock stars like Kiedis can get away with it because no 19-year-old wants to date an ordinary guy driving a Toyota Corolla.
Williams shared that her husband Spencer Matthews, who 'loves' the band, reacted to Kiedis's history with: 'Ugh, just because you can doesn't mean you should.'
Kiedis's current relationship
Kiedis's split from Vestergaard reportedly fuelled lyrics on the band's album The Getaway. He told BBC Radio at the time that the relationship's collapse left him 'pretty raw' and contributed to about half the songs on the record.
Today, Kiedis is dating 30-year-old sex educator Eileen Kelly, who is half his age. The couple began dating in late 2025. In April, Kelly wrote an essay for Vogue explaining her choice to date an older man, saying she had been 'missing out' her whole life and that her boyfriend seems 'genuinely excited' to be with her.
