Steve Martin has cancelled two dates on his comedy tour with Martin Short after contracting Covid-19. The 80-year-old actor announced the postponements on social media, saying he could not "possibly do the show that you deserve".
The pair were due to perform at The Dome in Virginia Beach on Friday and at Richmond's Allianz Amphitheater on Saturday. Martin shared a photograph of a positive test and apologised to fans, promising they would return "under better circumstances".
It is the second time the duo have been forced to pull dates this year. In February, two shows were scrapped after Martin tested positive following the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special. He joked at the time that a kiss with Maya Rudolph was to blame.
Well-wishers included Rita Wilson and Brad Garrett, who both urged him to "feel better". Meanwhile, the pair continue to star in Only Murders in the Building, which has been renewed for a fifth season. This week's episode, Dirty Birds, introduced guest stars including Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz and Renée Zellweger.
