Slaley Show marks 164th year with pony fancy dress

The Slaley Show, a traditional country show in Northumberland, returned for its 164th year this weekend, drawing crowds to Townhead Showfield in Slaley on Saturday.

The event, which has been operating since 1849, featured a packed programme including competitions, displays, traditional pastimes and crafts. Among the competitions was pony fancy dress, where participants dressed up themselves and their ponies in decorative outfits.

Themes and Winners

Themes included The Wizard of Oz, Minions and Alice in Wonderland. Olivia Richardson, six, and Freddy, four, won with their Wizard of Oz theme, while the Minions theme came third. Emily Richardson entered an Alice in Wonderland themed entry.

Other entries included a pony dressed as a lion, a space theme, a pony wearing a for sale sign, and one adorned with a Hawaiian garland. The event celebrated the rural community with lots of fun had by all.
