Seth Meyers discussed a recent Trump interview where the president described the Iran bombings as 'knocking the crap' out of the country, adding: 'We haven't even started hitting them hard. The big wave hasn't even happened, the big one is coming soon.' Meyers laughed, saying, 'Man, the commander in chief is supposed to be able to keep military secrets. He's so excited to bomb people, he can't help himself.'
Meyers also joked: 'Maybe he's not in the Epstein files. It honestly feels like he would have told us by now.' He went on to address Trump's speech at a Medal of Honor ceremony, where the president admitted trying to get a Medal of Honor for himself but was told it would be bad protocol. 'It's one thing if you have a puppy that has to be told not to piss in the house. This is like a 16-year-old dog that still has to be told not to piss in the house,' Meyers said.
Jimmy Kimmel focused on the war in Iran and Trump's claim that the US has a 'virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. The war can be fought forever.' 'Oh good, the war can be fought forever,' Kimmel said grimly. 'Just like the war his stomach is fighting with his pants.' Kimmel also noted that Trump will attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner for the first time, and that Trump saw the invitation as an endorsement of being 'one of the greatest presidents.' Kimmel remarked: 'They call you the Goat... it isn't an acronym, it's an animal that eats garbage.'
On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert addressed the US state department's advice that Americans leave the Middle East, but noted flights are limited or grounded. 'If they can't leave, then what are they supposed to do? Just wander around the desert? We all know why that took Moses 40 years,' he said. Colbert also discussed a CNN poll showing 59% disapproval of the Iran strikes and a bizarre report that US commanders told troops Trump was anointed by Jesus to cause Armageddon. 'That's one exit strategy!' Colbert remarked.
