Ricky Gervais Announces Mortality Netflix Special for December 30
Ricky Gervais Mortality Netflix Special Drops Dec 30

Comedy powerhouse Ricky Gervais is set to return to Netflix with a brand new stand-up special titled Mortality, premiering globally on Monday, 30 December.

Gervais Returns with His Most Personal Show Yet

The Golden Globe-winning creator of The Office brings his highly anticipated fourth stand-up special to the streaming giant, following the acclaimed successes of Humanity, Supernature, and Armageddon. For this new outing, Gervais was filmed performing at the iconic London Palladium.

Netflix has teased that in Mortality, Gervais delivers what they are calling "his best show yet". The special will see the comedian tackle the subject of his own mortality in a performance described as brutally honest and darkly funny.

Gervais himself has expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: "I think Mortality is my most honest and confessional show so far and also my favourite tour. I still can't believe what a privilege it is to fly around the world making people laugh."

A Track Record of Record-Breaking Success

The new special follows a period of immense achievement for the comedian. His previous Netflix special, Armageddon, was a massive hit in 2023, soaring to the number one spot in the Netflix rankings and earning him both a Golden Globe nomination and a Grammy nod.

Furthermore, the Armageddon live performance shattered world records to become the most lucrative comedy show of all time.

Gervais's current Mortality tour is a global affair, taking him to 80 sold-out venues across the world, including legendary locations such as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and New York's Radio City Music Hall.

Philanthropy and Accolades

Beyond the stage and screen, Gervais continues his philanthropic work. Mirroring his previous tours, a significant portion of the ticket sales from the end of the Mortality tour will be donated to charity.

This tradition has seen substantial sums go to good causes; at the conclusion of the Armageddon tour, a staggering £1.91 million was donated to various global animal charities.

This year has also seen Gervais receive a prestigious personal honour: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The celebrated actor and writer remains famous for his groundbreaking roles in The Office, After Life, and Extras.
