Ray J rushed to hospital after medical emergency in livestream

Ray J was rushed to hospital after suffering a medical emergency in the middle of a livestream this week. Earlier this year, the One Wish singer claimed he had just 'months to live' after experiencing issues with his heart.

The singer's health appeared to take a turn while he livestreamed to fans from Fab Factory Studios in Los Angeles this week. Footage from the stream shows the singer laying on a sofa beside his mother, Sonja Norwood, as a friend called for an ambulance and the fire department.

Once the paramedics arrived, they were seen tending to Ray J, who had medical equipment attached to his bare chest. The musician then walked outside to the waiting ambulance and was placed on a stretcher while eating a packet of crisps.

Treatment and updates

According to TMZ, Ray J was being treated for heart-related issues at a nearby hospital, but no further updates on his condition have been released.

Hours after being taken to hospital, he reposted an Instagram video first shared earlier this week in which he speaks about mortality and his health.

'My liver is f****d up, my heart is still f****d up. I wake up and I know it, but I still don't give a f**k,' he said.

Ray J continued: 'I still haven't got it checked. Eventually n****s is gonna die. What else is gonna happen? The ambulance is gonna come and hopefully we make it through. If we die, n****s will be like, it's about time, we was waiting. It's not ok.'

Health history and background

The Sexy Can I singer has been busy with his RayHab streamathon, which recently launched and was expected to last 180 days. It was intended to give fans a closer insight into Ray J's life behind the scenes and saw him staying up through the night for long stretches of time.

Ray J, real name William Ray Norwood Jr, first revealed the extent of his health issues in January. He told fans during a livestream at the time: '2027 is definitely a wrap for me. This [gesturing to his heart] is black. This is, like, done.'

The entertainer revealed that he 'almost died' in hospital where he was previously treated for pneumonia, and explained that he messed up by thinking he had 'more weight.'

'I thought I was big so I could handle all the alcohol, I could handle all the Adderall, I could handle all the drugs—but I couldn't. It curved my time here,' he said, adding that his heart was 'only beating 25%.'

Ray J also opened up about his relationship with alcohol, and was drinking 'four or five bottles' thinking nothing would happen to him because he was 'undestructible [sic].'

In May, the TV star was hospitalised again after getting knocked out in a celebrity MMA fight, and shared photos of himself laid up in the hospital bed.

Ray J is the younger brother of R&B superstar Brandy, but has made a name for himself through his own music and film and TV appearances. However, he is perhaps best known for starring in a sex tape with Kim Kardashian, which propelled both to fame. He appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 but left after a week.

Ray J has had a turbulent marriage with reality star Princess Love, who he married in 2016. The on-off couple share two children; daughter Melody, seven, and son Epik, five.
