Peter Kay has addressed his dramatic weight loss after fans declared him unrecognisable during a recent television appearance. The 52-year-old comedian appeared significantly slimmer on The One Show on Thursday, promoting his 2026 tour, Peter Kay Live, Better Late Than Never.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Kay joked about his new look when a photo from his tour poster showed him heavier. 'Lost some weight since that happened,' he quipped. He confirmed that all profits from the tour will go to twelve cancer charities, including Children With Cancer UK and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Kay has previously spoken about his struggles with binge-eating and lack of willpower. He told an event in Salford that he had tried 'everything' to lose weight, including Slimming World and WeightWatchers. He recalled a moment when he caught his reflection while eating a hotdog and threw it away, only to retrieve it.
The comedian traced his eating habits back to childhood, saying his mother would bring him meat pies at school and hide biscuits at home. He added that he started aerobics at a local leisure centre, where Paddy McGuinness was his instructor.
Kay's Better Late Than Never tour, which includes a record-breaking residency at London's O2 Arena, continues until April 2026. He returned to the stage in 2021 after stepping back in 2017 due to family circumstances.
