Peter Kay has extended his record-breaking UK arena tour with nine new dates. The comedy legend will now head to Brighton, Blackpool, Cardiff and Hull.
Charity Focus
Profits from ticket sales for the additional shows will be shared equally between three charities, including The Lily Foundation, the UK's leading mitochondrial disease charity. The new dates were announced live by Peter Kay during an appearance on Sara Cox's BBC Radio 2 show on Wednesday, July 29, morning.
The extension comes after the tour was previously expected to conclude this summer with shows in Leeds, Birmingham, London and Manchester.
Peter Kay said: "It's been an incredible four-year tour. I've absolutely loved it. If doing a few more shows can help raise money for these overlooked and sadly underfunded charities, then that's the least I can do."
The Lily Foundation
The Lily Foundation's share of the proceeds will help fund support services for people and families affected by mitochondrial disease, as well as research into new treatments. The additional dates will be the final performances of Peter Kay's Better Late Than Never Tour.
The Lily Foundation was established in 2007 by Liz Curtis after the loss of her baby daughter, Lily, to mitochondrial disease at only eight-months-old. The charity’s mission is to educate and raise awareness about mitochondrial diseases, support affected patients and families and fund vital research into treatments and an eventual cure.
Since the charity began, it has raised over £11m and offers support to more than 1,500 families across the UK.
The team said: "We are completely overwhelmed and deeply grateful to Peter Kay and his team for choosing to support The Lily Foundation. This incredibly generous gesture will not only raise vital funds to support families living with mitochondrial disease, but it also brings invaluable national awareness to our cause."
