Coronation Street viewers have been quick to identify where they recognise Tim Metcalfe's cousin Richie from, as actor Nathan Sussex takes on the role.
Richie's Arrival and Dark Turn
In recent episodes, Tim was stunned when he picked up his long-lost cousin Richie as a fare in the precinct. With wife Sally away on holiday, Tim invited Richie back for drinks with the lads, during which Richie opened up about his troubled marriage, leading Tim to offer him a place to stay.
After Sally returned home early and reluctantly allowed Richie to stay longer, she soon changed her mind and insisted he leave. Tim drove his cousin home, encouraging him not to give up on his marriage. However, upon discovering Richie's wallet back at the house, Tim returned to find a dazed and bloodied Richie, prompting him to call the police immediately.
Murder Charge Revealed
In Tuesday's episode, now streaming on ITVX, DS Lisa Swain visits and confirms that Richie has been charged with the murder of his wife. Lisa breaks the news to Tim and Sally that Richie's daughter Lucy has been placed into care, with Richie claiming self-defence. Later episodes this week will see Lucy come to live with Tim and Sally.
Actor's Previous Roles
Nathan Sussex, 51, is best known for playing Buster Smith in Hollyoaks between 2018 and 2021. His other credits include The Good Ship Murder, Believe Me, and Midsomer Murders, among others.
Soap fans have taken to social media to share their recognition. One viewer asked: "What was that bloke in before? I recognise him as a bad guy #corrie!" with another responding: "Hollyoaks!" Another fan posted: "Where do I recognise the new guy from? He's deffo been on a soap before. #corrie!" prompting a confirmation: "He used to be in Hollyoaks!"
