Andrew Garfield has declared that appearing on the next series of Celebrity Traitors would be a "true dream" after ambushing a radio interview with former contestants.
The Hollywood actor interrupted a Heart Radio interview featuring Jonathan Ross, Nick Mohammed and Celia Imrie, who all previously took part in the BBC show. When asked about joining a future series, he replied: "It's a true dream and you guys inspired me for sure. I would love to do it."
Fans call for BBC to sign him up
Viewers have responded positively to his comments, with many urging the BBC to cast him in the next season. One person wrote: "Campaign for Andrew Garfield to be on the next series!!" Another said: "Get him on please."
A third fan commented: "@BBC you know what to do for next season," while another cheered: "Get him signed up!!!"
Garfield admits he would struggle as a Traitor
In an interview with Digital Spy, the Spider-Man star admitted he would not cope well with the pressure of being a Traitor in the Scottish castle. He said: "I don't think I would be able to last as a Traitor. I think I would lose my mind. I don't think I have that level of grit and determination. I think I would feel too bad. I love the game but I think I would love to be a Faithful."
Traitor reveal shocks first episode
His hesitation about the role of a Traitor was reflected in the first episode of the new series, which returned on October 1. Richard E Grant and Maya Jama were selected as the Traitors for the celebrity series.
While Jama has largely stayed under the radar, Grant quickly raised suspicion. When fellow contestant Joe Lycett asked whether he was a Traitor or a Faithful, Grant confidently admitted he was a Traitor. He tried to backtrack by saying there is no point playing the game if you are not a Traitor, but his actions have put a target on his back.
Viewers were shocked by the admission, with many calling him a worse Traitor than Alan Carr, who won the inaugural series despite surprising both fans and castmates. The current series features 21 celebrities competing to win £100,000 for their chosen charities, including Michael Sheen, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Bella Ramsey, Joe Lycett, Romesh Ranganathan and Jerry Hall. Celebrity Traitors airs every Thursday and Friday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
