Boy, 6, dies in Llanfairfechan crash; man arrested

A six-year-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle in Llanfairfechan. North Wales Police were called shortly after 5pm on Thursday, October 1, following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a child.

Arrest and emergency response

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and is helping with police enquiries. Police and the ambulance service attended the scene, but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The family of the child are being supported by specially trained officers.

Investigation and appeal

Detective Inspector Tim Evans from North Wales Police’s serious collision investigation unit said: "Our thoughts are with the young boy's family and friends at this extremely difficult time."

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing. Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to contact them by calling 101, quoting reference O162122.
