Bleecker Burger in London has been crowned the 'World's Best Burger Place' by the organisers of the 'World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants' rankings. To test whether the title holds up, I visited their London Bridge location on a Monday evening at 9:30pm. The restaurant was not initially crowded, but footfall increased after 10pm, drawing a mix of Gen Z and Millennial customers.
Menu and Pricing
I ordered a Cheeseburger (£10.50), a Blue Burger (£11.60), a Bacon Cheeseburger (£11.50), a side of Angry Fries (£5.50), a Double Chocolate Milkshake (£5.95), and a pint of 'L&G Extra Nice Pint' (£6.95). The prices felt fair given the quality.
Atmosphere and Design
The interior features white tiles reminiscent of early 1900s public bathrooms, a design choice consistent across Bleecker's locations. The vibe is 'fast-casual'—less fancy than Honest Burgers but more decadent than Five Guys.
The Burgers: Taste and Texture
The burgers appeared small but impressed with their dry-aged beef patties, cooked medium as requested. The patty was arguably the best I've ever had—juicy, soft, and flavourful. The simplicity of the toppings—Bleecker secret sauce, onions, melted cheese (plus bacon or blue cheese where applicable)—highlighted the beef. The sesame buns were exceptionally soft and buttery, but this proved a double-edged sword: the bun was perhaps too soft, overwhelming the patty slightly.
The Blue Burger's blue cheese was mellow and not overpowering, while the Bacon Cheeseburger's bacon was thin, crispy, and not too salty. However, those seeking fully loaded burgers with many toppings may be disappointed.
Drinks and Sides
The Double Chocolate Milkshake was thick and flavourful but fell short of Five Guys' shakes. The pint of beer was crisp and refreshing. The Angry Fries were a solid side.
Overall Experience
Surprisingly, my husband and I did not feel overstuffed after the meal—a stark contrast to our usual experience at Five Guys or Honest Burgers. For the first time, a burger and fries meal didn't feel unhealthy. Despite the bun's softness, Bleecker Burger's beef patties come close to perfection, making it a worthy contender for the world's best burger place.
