As the romantic drama 'Me Before You' climbs Netflix's most-watched list, fans are eager to discover the real-life locations used in the film. Starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, the movie is set in the fictional English town of Stokebridge but was predominantly shot in Pembrokeshire, Wales, which doubles as Lou's picturesque hometown.
The Traynor Estate, a key setting, was filmed at the grounds of Pembroke Castle, a historic fortress dating back to 1093 and known as the birthplace of King Henry VII. However, the Traynor family home, Grantchester House, is actually Wytham Abbey, a private manor house in Oxfordshire.
Other locations include the Clark family house, whose exterior was filmed in Harrow, north London, while interior scenes were reportedly shot in a studio. The heartbreaking Dignitas clinic scenes were filmed at a private home in Esher, Surrey, rather than in Switzerland.
For the exotic holiday to Mauritius, the production stayed closer to home, filming at the Barcelo Formentor Hotel in Mallorca, Spain. However, Lou's trip to Paris was genuinely shot in the City of Love, with her reading Will's letter outside Restaurant Paul at 15 Place Dauphine, near Pont Neuf.
