One of Wales' most celebrated restaurants, Slice in Sketty, Swansea, has announced it will permanently close its doors in October. The establishment, located on Eversley Road and run by chefs Chris Harris and Adam Bannister, has been a staple of the city's dining scene since opening in 2014.
Slice has been featured in both the Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide, earning a reputation as one of the best places to eat in Swansea. In 2015, Adam Bannister won the Welsh title on the BBC's Great British Menu and competed again the following year.
The restaurant's owners described closing as a difficult decision but said it was time for a change. A statement explained that Chris Harris will undergo heart surgery, leaving Adam Bannister and Lyndsay to manage the restaurant. To maintain consistency and quality, Slice will offer its tasting menu exclusively for dinner service from August 27 until the final day on October 25.
Regular service will continue until August 8, followed by a two-week annual break. The owners expressed gratitude to customers, saying it has been a privilege to serve the community over the past 12 years. They hinted at a new concept in development that will allow them to spend more time with family while remaining part of the community.
The announcement has left customers devastated, with many calling it a sad day for Swansea's food scene. This closure follows news that Truffle, another top Swansea restaurant, is also being sold for family reasons.
