Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, the fourth instalment in the popular spy series starring Tom Cruise, is airing on Film4 tonight at 9pm. Released in 2011, the film was a massive box office success, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film that year and Cruise's highest-grossing film at the time.
The film sees Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt, who must clear his name after the IMF is implicated in a bombing of the Kremlin. With the agency shut down, Hunt and his team—played by Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton—go rogue without backup. The cast also includes Josh Holloway from Lost and Léa Seydoux, known for her role as a Bond girl.
Directed by Brad Bird in his live-action debut after a career at Pixar, Ghost Protocol was praised for revitalising the franchise after the disappointment of Mission: Impossible 2. Critics highlighted the heart-stopping Burj Khalifa scene, where Cruise hangs off the world's tallest building, as a standout moment.
One critic described the action as 'huge and sometimes jaw-dropping,' while another said the film 'elevated the series to new heights of epicness.' Fox News called it an 'adrenaline-rush adventure on a grand scale.' Audiences also loved it, with one fan calling it 'the best in the franchise' and another praising its 'riveting scenes.'
Don't miss Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol on Film4 tonight at 9pm.
