The Voice UK adds Kelly Rowland as new judge for new series

The Voice UK returns to ITV1 at 7pm with a new judge: Kelly Rowland, a former member of Destiny's Child, takes a seat in the swivelling chairs for this year's talent show. She joins Tom Jones, will.i.am, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones on the panel. Emma Willis is back on hosting duties, though this could well be her last time. A new feature, a “rewind” button, gives the judges the opportunity to bring back a contestant they regret letting go.

Other highlights this evening

At 6pm on ITV1, Deal or No Deal: Celebrity Special sees comedian and actor Katherine Ryan face the Banker again. With no shortage of celebrity friends and a history of taking home the cash for charity, she opens the 22 red boxes as Stephen Mulhern hosts.

Alan Carr's Picture Slam airs at 6.30pm on BBC One. Carr hosts a breezy “say what you see” quiz in which competing duos must correctly identify images against the clock. The show's arbitrary pick'n'mix, from classic Hollywood to smartphone app icons, aims to get the whole family shouting at the telly.

Music and drama on BBC

Marvin Gaye: A Tribute at the Proms is on BBC Two at 8pm. Edwin Outwater conducts, and guest singers including Luke James perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a celebration of the soul icon. Andi Oliver hosts, with new arrangements of I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Sexual Healing and Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

At 9pm on BBC Four, the essential drama Kabul continues. It follows the fallout from the American decision to abandon Kabul in 2021. As panic spreads, Gilles attempts to negotiate with the Taliban, but with no trust on either side, it seems risky. Meanwhile, Amina decides to flee, but she must keep Nooria safe.

Documentary and film choice

Nigel Farage: Where Does the Money Come From? airs at 9.30pm on Channel 5. The documentary puts Farage's finances under the microscope, exploring his donors and examining his various lucrative sidelines as a broadcaster and speaker.

Film choice includes We Dive at Dawn at 1.25pm on BBC Two. This 1943 film from Anthony Asquith works as a tense wartime thriller. John Mills stars as the captain of the fictional submarine Sea Tiger. Sent to attack a new German battleship, he and his crew face mines, undersea nets and destroyers in the Baltic. The crew's tangled personal lives provide comic distraction from the life-and-death mission.

Doctor Strange airs at 8pm on Channel 4. The movie introduced the multiverse to Marvel's superhero franchise and added magic to the mix, as Benedict Cumberbatch's arrogant brain surgeon turns wielder of the mystic arts. Strange battles rogue sorcerer Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), with an enjoyably psychedelic feel reminiscent of Christopher Nolan's Inception and Tenet.
