Influencer Left in Stitches After Opening Mystery Boxes Full of Bizarre Items
Shopper Horrified by Mystery Box Haul of Bizarre Items

An influencer has shared her hilarious reaction after purchasing mystery parcels from a pop-up store in Manchester, only to be left questioning what she had picked up.

Mystery Box Madness at Manchester Arndale

Over the past week, shoppers have been flocking to the Arndale shopping centre in Manchester to take part in what has been described as the 'ultimate retail treasure hunt'. The event, run by French company King Colis, allows customers to buy lost and unclaimed packages without knowing their contents. The cost is £2.50 per 100 grams, and the concept has proved hugely popular, with plans to expand to cities such as Wolverhampton and Dublin.

However, not everyone has struck gold. One shopper recently revealed their fury after spending £60 on mystery packages, only to receive a collection of 'terrible' items, including a 'grim' black jacket. Now, influencer Sophie Daly, known on TikTok as @sophzgrid, has shared her own experience, which left her in stitches.

Sophie's Unboxing Experience

Sophie, who was invited to try the experience, estimated her haul would have cost her between £30 and £40. In her first package, she found a children's fairy dress-up costume, complete with a dress, wand, tiara, and necklace. Laughing on camera, she said: 'To be fair, it's the kind of thing I'd wear, but it's not going to fit me, is it?'

Her excitement quickly faded when she opened a pack of three plastic floral bibs. But the most shocking discovery was yet to come: a box filled with haemorrhoid creams. 'No, I'm actually dead,' she exclaimed. 'It's haemorrhoid cream, what? There's loads of haemorrhoid cream. I can't.'

The 31-year-old also found a 'wet' parcel containing men's hair replacement treatment. 'Not been lucky with this, at all,' she admitted. Her remaining packages held cycling gloves and a cap featuring a sloth design.

A Funny Turn of Events

Despite the less-than-glamorous haul, Sophie was able to see the humour in the situation. 'I'm sorry, that's actually funny,' she said. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she added: 'I was hoping for a diamond ring. I was genuinely so excited, I just thought it was such a cool experience.'

She continued: 'At first, I was pretty annoyed with what I had ended up with, but then the more parcels I kept opening, it just got funnier and funnier to me. In the end, it was quite hilarious. It's not things I wanted or needed, but it's not that deep.'

Social Media Reactions

Sophie's friends and followers were equally entertained by her haul. One commented: 'The bibs made me lol.' Another said: '10/10 haul.' A third remarked: 'Just a **** load of haemorrhoid cream is hilarious.'

When asked about her strategy, Sophie revealed she had tried to feel for jewellery boxes, having heard that another shopper had walked away with a £60 necklace. 'I was feeling around for what might feel like jewellery boxes or something and putting things down that didn't feel right. Ultimately, I ended up with haemorrhoid cream and hair replacement anyway,' she explained.

As a content creator, Sophie attended the event after being invited by a PR firm representing King Colis, meaning she did not have to spend her own money. She plans to keep the fairy wand, saying: 'I'm going to keep the fairy wand and clip my microphone onto it. I will find a purpose for that at least!'
