Shawna Scott Now: Worst Neighbor Ever Victim Survives Shooting, Rebuilds Life
Shawna Scott Now: Worst Neighbor Ever Victim's Life After Shooting

Shawna Scott, who survived being shot in the face by her neighbor in 2018, has spoken about her ordeal in Netflix's new true crime documentary series Worst Neighbor Ever. The attack killed her husband, David Scott, a deputy jailer.

The Shooting and Its Aftermath

In 2018, Frances Zaayer fired a gun at Shawna and David Scott, killing David and leaving Shawna with catastrophic facial injuries. Shawna required more than a dozen surgical procedures to repair her face, which she described as having "all broken" bones. She lost sight in her left eye and hearing in her left ear, and bears scars on her face.

Shawna recalled being told she would need to stay in hospital for "at least three weeks" but declined to attend David's funeral. She said: "I couldn't believe it. Our lives were torn apart in that moment."

Shawna Scott's Life Now

Years after the incident, Shawna has reconciled with her daughter, after a brief falling out during the neighbor dispute. She maintains regular contact with her two grandchildren, one of whom was born after David's funeral. Shawna said: "I just want to be here for my kids and my grandkids because they are the most important thing to me."

She continues to take life "one day at a time" and has undergone 16 facial operations. Shawna's daughter and grandchildren have returned to Mount Sterling.

Fear of Parole

Shawna expressed fear about Frances Zaayer's potential parole: "It's my biggest fear for Frances to be paroled. My fear for my kids, my family. Honestly, I hope she never gets out. There's still a fear that's in the back of my head every day."
