Santa's Steam Train Adventure, a new Christmas event, has been confirmed at Aln Valley Railway in Northumberland. The event is organized by Fox & Edwards Events, the same company behind the fish and chip train rides at Tanfield Railway.
Event Dates and Experience
The event will run on December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, and 21, 2026. It invites families to 'step into a world of imagination' this Christmas. The journey begins at Lionheart Station, where Mother Christmas and her elves will welcome passengers aboard a festive steam train.
During the 55-minute return journey, children will receive a Christmas storybook, a complimentary juice and baked treat, and a bespoke Christmas activity book. Adults can enjoy a mince pie. Santa himself will travel through the train to give a quality gift to every child on his nice list.
Ticket Pricing and Options
Standard tickets are priced at £25 for both adults and children. Compartments for four, six, or eight people can also be booked. Additionally, a Festive Treat Tin packed with seasonal bakes like shortbread and cookies, presented in a keepsake tin, can be added.
Other confirmed festive events for 2026 include the popular trail at Whitehouse Farm in Morpeth and Winter Wonderland at Adventure Valley in County Durham. Operation Christmas Eve at the Centre for Life in Newcastle and Northern Lights at Leazes Park with the theme Christmas Time Machine are also returning.
