Pierce Brosnan on turning down Knives Out 2 role

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has revealed why he turned down a role in Rian Johnson's highly anticipated sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The Irish star, known for his iconic portrayal of 007, admitted he declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts.

In a recent interview, Brosnan shared, "It just didn't work out timing-wise. I was committed to other projects, and sadly, I had to pass." While he didn't disclose which character he was approached for, fans have speculated it could have been a pivotal role alongside Daniel Craig's detective Benoit Blanc.

A Busy Schedule Ahead

Brosnan is currently promoting his new film, The Thursday Murder Club, based on Richard Osman's bestselling novel. The actor plays a retired spy in the adaptation, a role that intriguingly echoes his Bond legacy.

"The Thursday Murder Club is a delightful project," Brosnan said. "It's witty, charming, and has that perfect blend of mystery and humour. I couldn't resist."

Knives Out's Stellar Cast

Despite Brosnan's absence, Glass Onion boasts an impressive ensemble, including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, and Kate Hudson. The sequel, which follows the success of the 2019 original, continues Johnson's modern take on the whodunit genre.

While Brosnan may have missed out this time, he hasn't ruled out future collaborations. "Rian is a brilliant filmmaker. Who knows what the future holds?" he teased.
