An 'absolutely terrific' crime drama hailed as 'utter brilliance' is ready to binge-watch for free on BBC iPlayer. Kin, a lethal Irish crime series, centres on a close-knit Dublin family after the tragic death of a young boy, sparking a catastrophic chain of events and a bitter gangland conflict with an international drug cartel.
The official logline states: 'But the Kinsellas have something the cartel does not, the unbreakable bonds of blood and family.' The two-series drama features an all-star cast including Peaky Blinders icon Emmett J Scanlan, Small Things Like These star Claire Dunne, Daredevil actor Charlie Cox, and The Commitments legend Maria Doyle Kennedy.
Praising the show as an 'edge of your seat drama' on IMDb, one viewer wrote: 'Absolutely brilliant, a true adaptation of a crime family in Dublin, nail biting. Absolutely terrific TV.' Another concurred: 'Utter brilliance from the storyline to the acting. Not a single bad word to say about it.'
A further viewer described it as an 'excellent Irish crime story', adding that it's 'extremely addictive, so consequently, I found myself binge watching both series.' Others have labelled Kin a 'masterpiece' and a 'gang saga for the age.'
Some viewers declared it 'miles better' than the award-winning drama Gangs of London, which stars Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole. 'Love this Irish family gangster revenge series. Not as needlessly bloody as Gangs of London it is subtly as lethal,' remarked one enthusiastic fan. On Reddit, another user concurred: 'Kin is miles better to be honest,' with fellow viewers describing it as more 'raw and realistic.'
What makes this even more thrilling is that Kin has secured a third series, which will broadcast on RTE and BBC One, with suggestions it may premiere sometime in 2027. Kin is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
